Northfield History Month Begins on June 1st!
Explore Northfield’s Historic Downtown District: This walking tour begins with an overview of the District and then highlights several of the buildings on each block in terms of architectural features, original and restoration architects, and local history. Participants will meet inside the Historical Society and will be given a brief introduction before beginning the 90-minute walk on Division and 4th Streets. Barbara Evans will be the tour guide. She is a member of the Northfield Historical Society and is on the Heritage Preservation Commission for the City of Northfield. She is currently compiling the “Focus on Preservation” feature that appears on Saturdays in the Northfield News and also on the Old Northfield Facebook page.
NHS will host two tours, 10:30 am and 6:30 pm. The ticket price is $10 per person. Pre-registration is recommended as each group is limited to 20 people. Participants may register online at Eventbrite or stop by the museum store.
Participants should arrive fifteen minutes before the tour and expect moderate walking on city sidewalks and crosswalks, as well as periods of standing. NHS recommends toting along a bottle of water if the day is hot. In case of rain, June 8 is the re-scheduled date with tours at the same times and the participant lists carrying over.
