NORTHFIELD MIDDLE SCHOOL MUSEUM OPENS!
![]()
A talented and dedicated group of Northfield students, led by Northfield Middle School history teacher Earl Weinmann (to the right of the podium), pulled together an exhibit of historic proportions that makes up the Northfield Middle School Museum, housed in the New Middle School.
This collaboration between Northfield Public Schools and Northfield Historical Society, is our first venture in permanent off-site exhibits. We are thrilled!
The seed for this undertaking was sown within the hallways of a school in Uzbekistan. There Earl was taken by the fact that schools there exhibited their histories and students learned it. He knew Northfield's Middle School had a rich history and at the very least, it ought to be displayed.
Earl gives all the credit to the students whose enthusiasm never waned and surpassed his own. And so on April 7, the night of the grand opening, students took to the podium and told us how it was. They talked of the oddities, the education, the pride and the effort behind collecting, archiving and presenting the story of the old Middle School. A tremendous amount of credit, too, was given to Corrine and Elvin Heiberg (to the left of the podium), without whose support, contributions and involvement the project could never have been done.
Earl also recognized past superintendent Terry Tofte, current superintendent Chris Richardson and the Historical Society for their support.
