INTERIOR CONSTRUCTION BEGINS!

On Monday, March 14, Northfield Construction took over the exhibit rooms of the Northfield Historical Society. They covered the original wood floors with particle board, securely taped all the entrances and set up the scaffolding.

The first thing to go was the tin ceiling, piece by piece, maintaining its integrity for historic study and perhaps reuse or sale. Then they'll move up to the second floor and repair a bathroom water problem before then continue on with the exhibit room restorations. We're hoping to have their tear down, rewiring, relighting, restoring the original ceilings, resheetrocking, refinishing and then cleaning up and heading out by May 1. Then our exhibits crew will take over and begin work on an upgraded Jesse James exhibit and all-new Northfield History Exhibit.
The Museum exhibits are closed until the construction crews leave at which point we'll reopen the bank site exhibit, and we're hoping to unveil the Jesse James exhibit by the July 4th weekend. Stay tuned!
