History of Northfield Football

The Northfield Historical Society and Northfield Senior Center will present "The History of Northfield Football" Thursday, Aug. 11, 7 p.m., at the Northfield Senior Center.

Local coaches, authors and experts, Bob Sullivan, Bubba Sullivan and
Tom Porter, will share their knowledge and amazing stories of the Northfield Gridiron in a question-and-answer panel format. Orrin DeLong, Bob Phelps and Mark Fagerwick will host.

Explore the genesis of football from its beginnings in Europe to its emergence in the U.S. and ultimately the Midwest and Northfield. Talk about the rivalries between Carleton and St. Olaf, interesting personalities and antics, memorable moments and how the game has changed over the years. Talk about the Raiders' upcoming season and memorable moments in Northfield high school football.

Admission is $2 for Historical Society and Senior Center members, $3 for non-members. Bring the whole family. Refreshments will be served following the program.
